In 2008, the legislature passed SSB 6596 which established the Sex Offender Policy Board (SOPB). The Legislature's intent was to promote a coordinated and integrated response to the sex offense management system and create an entity to respond to issues that arise in this field.

In 2011, under Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5891, the Sentencing Guidelines Commission (SGC) was directed to maintain the SOPB to advise the Governor and/or Legislature on issues related to sexual offending. The Board is assigned a wide variety of duties that range from conducting individual case reviews to undertaking projects that inform policy related to the sex offense management system.

How to file a public records request

We prefer requests be made in writing, e-mail or fax so both parties have a record of the contact. If this is not possible, we will be pleased to discuss a request over the telephone and place it in writing for the requester. Request a public record.
