Sex Offender Policy Board

Welcome

Advising policymakers on issues related to Washington’s sex offender management system

The Legislature established the Sex Offender Policy Board (SOPB) in 2008 with the intent to promote a coordinated and integrated response to sex offender management and create an entity to respond to issues that arise. In 2011, the legislature directed the Sentencing Guidelines Commission (SGC) to establish and maintain the SOPB as an independent entity to advise policymakers on issues related to sex offender management.

The SOPB is assigned a wide variety of duties that range from conducting individual case reviews to undertaking projects that inform policy related to the sex offender management system.
